Job Description: Akkerman’s Truck and Equipment Repair is seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines and related components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair and maintenance, with a focus on ensuring optimal vehicle performance, safety, and efficiency. You will work with a variety of diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment, ensuring that our customers' equipment operates smoothly and is returned to work in a timely manner.

We are a rapidly growing servicer of light, medium and heavy duty trucks and equipment of all kinds. We are looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our dedicated team and play a key role in maintaining and servicing our growing clientele's fleets of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel engines and related systems (fuel, electrical, cooling, exhaust, hydraulics, transmissions etc.)
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, identify problems, and implement effective solutions.
- Inspect vehicles for compliance with safety standards, company regulations and perform annual DOT Inspections.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure the longevity and reliability of customer’s vehicles.
- Maintain accurate records of service and repairs performed through our cloud based software.
- Work closely with the shop manager and team to prioritize repairs and meet deadlines.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in safe and functional condition.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with other team members to optimize performance.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, diagnostics, and repair techniques.
- Strong knowledge of equipment diagnostics and repairs.
- Experience with heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and/or industrial equipment is preferred.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, scanners, and repair manuals.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required).
- ASE certification (preferred but not required).
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various physical conditions.
